Byron Bay Wedding Fair promised visitors a “hand-picked selection of the region’s premium wedding vendors”, and that naturally had to include us!
We took our place in the fair at Horizon Byron Bay – a stunning private home and wedding venue overlooking the Bay. The house is sleek and modern with some quirky touches, and can be hired out as both wedding venue plus accommodation for select guests in its five en-suite rooms. How cool is that! No tiresome travelling – just all your nearest and dearest staying on-site to make an amazing weekend out of your wedding. Yes please.
Various areas around the Horizon property were set up to showcase the finest wedding vendors this corner of Oz could muster. Prospective marrieds browsed around at their own pace, drank in the panoramic views and dreamed up their perfect day!
Byron Bay Weddings organise a bunch of these fairs at 12 different locations, showcasing some of the top venues in the area at the same time as giving local vendors a cool way to display their wares. They also provide a kickass wedding planning service, helping couples design their big day down to the finest details.
Our custom booth
We got a bit crafty for our installation in the festival, bringing along a DIY backdrop for our photo booth – a simple idea that is so effective! Everyone wants a pic when you have a backdrop as lovely as this (though we say so ourselves).
Other vendors
Miss Poppins
A real fave of ours, Miss Poppins provides nanny services for weddings. How cool is that? Parents get to kick back and enjoy the day and all the kids are involved, entertained and looked after too. Win win.
Love Illuminated
Super cool specialist lighting providers Love Illuminated supply amazing lighting designs for events and photoshoots. The big ‘Love’ design they brought for the festival’s decking area was a great backdrop that would really come into its own when the sun goes down…
The Canavan + The Magic Bus Company
The Canavan was featured on our recent blog post for Hamish and Kristen’s Wondrous Warehouse Wedding and went down a storm again here! Chic catering and drinks from the kitsch van plus plenty of cool props and furniture to create a stylish area for guests to enjoy.
We love the way The Canavan crew go all-out to form a really cool space around their van. Clever little design touches are the difference between plain old catering and something that provides a real buzz at your wedding.
Joining The Canavan was a big red vintage London bus from The Magic Bus Company. This double-decker beauty is perfect for adding a touch of English charm to wedding venue transfers, or even as a venue for the party itself. Tally ho!
Alstonville Florist
Weddings specialists Alstonville Florist had some outrageously lovely arrangements on display, as well as adorning the venue’s own wedding arbour. This classic feature would make a beautiful focal point for a ceremony on the decking overlooking the ocean… swoon.
Flower people would tell you what all these are, we do photo booths! Hmm, roses, peonies (?), err eucalyptus..? Ah who knows, they’re flowers! And ruddy lovely too.
Sweet Obsessions
Gone are the days of boring white, tiered wedding cakes with the weird little couple standing on top. Sweet Obsession know how to make cakes! Have a look at these belters…
These towering masterpieces would ensure that the cutting of the cake really is a highlight of the day. We would certainly be first in line for a slice of that toffee-drizzled beauty…
Byron Bay Cacao
If there’s ever a time for gourmet handmade chocolates then surely it’s your wedding day. Byron Bay Cacao craft an exquisite selection of these chocolatey mouth-bombs, with exotic flavours such as green apple vodka or Japanese sake & berry sure to destroy any honeymoon diet plans.
Booth business
So what went down in our booth? As usual, we like to share a few of the finer moments…
Selfie squared
A selfie of a selfie! This couple are pretty happy in the limelight…
Nanny McPlease
Perfect candidates for the services of Miss Poppins… Get the nannies in and give yourself a break mums!
On the Fringes
We like this guy’s perfectly-spaced fringe… and also how he seems to be trying to recreate it with his fingers on his lady’s head.
Important call
This poor kid seems to be receiving a pretty important call while the rest of the fam is just messing around in a photo booth. Someone has to hold it all together eh pal.
Huge thanks to the wonderful Byron Bay Weddings for an amazing day and all our booth guests for being fun and photogenic! If you’d like more wedding ideas and inspiration, why not hotstep it over to our Instagram, Facebook (UK or Australia) or Pinterest pages.
