Who doesn’t love a country wedding? Fresh air, picture-perfect views… no neighbours to keep the reception quiet. Whether you’re planning an escape from the city, or you’re a country couple to the core, Australia is full of stunning rural spots to get hitched.

Kangaroo Valley

A favourite of Sydney and Canberra couples, Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat is a self-contained venue with stunning views over the valley. The picturesque 100-acre property offers a couple of different options for the ceremony location – the deck overlooking the valley, or a majestic natural rock cathedral. Best of all? You get the property for the whole weekend, complete with guest accommodation.

Hunter Valley

Wine and weddings go hand in hand, and we love a celebration at the source! The Hunter Valley feels a world away from Sydney, but it’s actually only a two-hour drive. Couples who really want to get away from it all steer clear of the huge wedding venues and head for the hills. Briar Ridge Vineyard in Mount View features lush vineyards and romantic gardens, all with majestic mountain vistas. It’s just as elegant inside, with the Rose Room and terrace offering cuisine by the acclaimed Bistro Molines.

Fraser Island

Want your wedding away from it all, but prefer sand to farmsteads? Fraser Island’s calling! The world’s largest sand island is just 3.5 hours away from Brisbane, yet feels like a remote paradise. Choose a ceremony spot from a plethora of stunning ocean beaches, dramatic sand cliffs and lush rainforests, then take the party back to Kingfisher Bay Resort.

Yarra Valley

Melburnians seeking a vineyard vista for their vows make a beeline for the Yarra Valley. Sweeping views over the vines, a miner’s hut from the 1850s, and a big rustic barn for the reception make Acacia Ridge  a classic country ceremony location. Plus, their wines are delicious.

Macedon Ranges

Central Victoria’s Macedon Ranges are famous for food, wine, and Hanging Rock. You could get hitched at Hanging Rock itself, or go for something more private. We love the classic rural charm of St Agnes homestead. A beautifully restored heritage coach house, Merlot vineyard and gorgeous gardens provide the perfect wedding setting.

Uluru

If you’re going to go country, why not go all the way to the red centre? A sunset or sunrise wedding with a view of Uluru will make your special day even more memorable. Enjoy a starlit outback reception dinner, or pick one of Ayers Rock Resort’s outdoor and indoor locations to kick up your heels.

Toowoomba

The countryside surrounding the garden city certainly isn’t short on beautiful rustic locations to say “I do”. The Woolshed at Jondaryan has your whole wedding covered in unique country style, whether you prefer a creekside ceremony or you’d rather get hitched in the heritage-listed woolshed itself.

Selfmatic’s going bush

Saying “I do” out the back of Bourke? No matter how remote you go, you can take a Selfmatic with you for the whole weekend to snap pics and GIFs from the ceremony to the reception, the recovery barbecue and beyond. Get in touch with us to find out more.
