We found ourselves at one of our fave Brisbane venues for the Melbourne Cup last year, and Cloudland’s official bash did not disappoint.

The spectacular location was decked out with racing-themed decor for the day, recreating the atmosphere of a genteel garden party indoors. Our photo booth was there to capture some truly spectacular outfits! Guests certainly brought their fashion A-game, as we’ll see later in some of our snaps…

In print

Our yellow chevron backdrop provided a nice pop of colour in such vibrant surroundings. Cloudland’s guests took away their lovely custom-designed prints as mementoes of a glorious day’s racing.

Fashion forward

Racing days like these are as much about fashion as they are about horses, and the outfits above were the finalists in the fashion contest for best-dressed on the day. This was eventually won by the dapper chap in the floral blazer!

No Payne no gain

The horse that came in second this year was called Max Dynamite (a combination of Max Power and Napoleon Dynamite – two of our Aussie booths!). We thought this was rather a good sign, but forgot to bet on him 🙁 Glorious to see the first female jockey win this year though, lots of stylish hats off to Michelle Payne.

Thoroughbred posers

Right, let’s have a look at a few pics from the booth. Always good for gauging the atmosphere on the day!

Having a mare

Appropriate

WTF! she says, and well she might. The horse head saw a fair bit of action on the day, and we always like to see it teamed with elegant evening wear.

Back the winner

Photobomb

Photobomb success for this chap… not only crashing the party perfectly but also close to securing a peck on the muzzle.

Horse whisperer

Nibble

Whatever he’s saying she seems to be enjoying it… A very exaggerated wink for Jan too, whoever that might be.

Dapper chaps

besuited

These two sleek gents stood out from the crowd… Good job we didn’t bring our triangles backdrop or black and white chap might have disappeared from the shot completely. Lovely suit and matching bow tie/lapel badge get top marks though.

Dressy dames

Ladies

Elegant ladies love getting dressed up for the races and these three have even colour-coordinated themselves beautifully. Very chic.

Fishing for compliments

Fascinator

Fascinators have always reminded us of fishing lures, and this lady appears to have caught the attention of a whopper. Mr red bow tie seems to be enjoying himself there too.

Huge thanks to our friends at Cloudland – we love working with you all and will see you again soon! For more ideas on corporate events, weddings and parties, do head over to our social pages on Instagram, Facebook (UK or Australia) or Pinterest.
