We joined our old friends at Hope Centre Brisbane recently for a party to honour and celebrate the centre’s amazing volunteers. Our photo booth was decked out with a custom-printed Mexican backdrop to match the venue’s decor and the awesome standard of fancy dress achieved by los voluntarios!

Highbrow

Frida Kahlo’s eyebrows are significantly more famous than her paintings… top marks for fancy dress all round on this night! Mexican always means plenty of colour and lots of drawn-on facial hair too.

Props to you

Props and decorations were simple and effective, like these cactus boards, crate-fences and cheap rugs. The coloured hanging lanterns are also an easy and cost-effective way to add a little Mexican spice to your venue!

Our custom-printed booth backdrop worked a treat, sucking in the crowd and complementing/clashing with everyone’s outfits superbly… we offer a range of standard backdrops or custom prints featuring pretty much anything you like! More details here.

Come at me bro! Corn chip and salsa in an emotional reunion below…

That tortilla chip costume again… corny but cool! For cool ideas on Mexican-themed party food have a look at Pinterest foodie pages like this one. Pinterest is amazing for all those little details!

Placing the booth in an area with plenty of people around makes sure it gets used! The light dish on top always attracts attention and as it’s an open booth our setup is very flexible when it comes to positioning.

Booth pics

Right, so let’s take a closer look at some of those lovely costumes in our photo booth pics from the night… ¡Arriba!

Brimming with confidence

Mexican 1

As sombreros go, this is a great one. Teamed with a mariachi outfit and Dali moustache, and accompanied by a pigtailed Latina songstress, this is quite the getup.

Three amigos

Mexican 2

What is that on his plate? it looks like mashed potato but that doesn’t seem very Mexican. Check out those ponchos though… wowsers.

Besos

Mexican 3

We had to bring Frida and friend back again for another shot… these two looked spectacular!

Family fiesta

Mexican 4

Good to see the whole family coming together for some Mexican madness… we really love that horned hat.

El Amor

Mexican 5

This loved-up pair got plenty of snaps of themselves, and who can blame them! What a ridiculously good looking pair, complete with immaculate fancy dress and even a real Mexican ‘tache. Cute.

Nacho nibble

Mexican 6

Another look at Mr Nacho and his nibbly friend. Quite a commitment hauling this cardboard creation around for the evening. Top marks.

Gang bangers

Mexican 7

Slightly different side of Mexican culture represented here! Don’t mess with this lot…

Bleh

Mexican 8

Couple of cheeky faces to finish off! What a great night this was – proof that with a bit of inspiration and a good crowd, themed events can be immensely good fun. Big thanks to our old friends at The Hope Centre.
