Social media is a great tool for really squeezing all the juice out of that amazing event you’ve spent FAR TOO MANY hours of your life organising!

You can get your guests really interacting with your brand and generating that all-important buzz before, during and even after an event. Here are 10 top tips for getting the most out of a photo booth or InstaPrinta by making your next soirée seriously social…

Get Started Early

No, we don’t mean early in the morning! Get to know your guests well in advance of the event by inviting them to interact with you on social channels during the lead-up.

They could be voting on elements of your event (photo booth props/theme perhaps?), joining an event page where they can see which of their friends might be attending, being kept up to date with the latest promos and previews to build anticipation, or just being given an easy way to ask questions about the event.

Know your Networks

Be smart and identify which networks are going to work for your event beforehand and focus on those rather than chucking up content willy-nilly. For example, Pinterest is awesome for visual events like fashion shows, but much less awesome for wordy conferences and trade shows…

Competition Time

You love free stuff. I love free stuff. Everyone loves free stuff and being a winner among losers makes it even better! Our photo booths have been used as part of competitions, where guests compete to make the best photo, for example. Our InstaPrinta could also be incorporated, where every hashtagged photo goes into a prize draw during the event.

Start the Conversation

Don’t wait for people to be chattering away with you on Twitter – get stuck in! Ask questions and provoke a response in the lead up to the event as well as during it.

Collect Handles

One way to make sure your team is on top of social activity at your event is to collect guests’ Twitter handles or other social tags as part of registration. This makes it easy to monitor what’s going down!

Make it OBVIOUS

Most of us are Twittering and Instagramming our lives away, but not all your guests will be as familiar with this crazy new world. Make sure your event hashtag and company handle is obvious to people… one event we did (see pic) had social media instructions written on the mirrors in the bathrooms! Get creative.

Be Responsive

Always have at least one person looking after social accounts at the time of your event. They can respond to comments and queries quickly and keep your feeds updated and looking FRESH.

No Overshare

People on mobile phones

We all have friends who slap up any old nonsense across all their social feeds at once and it isn’t big or clever. Don’t stick the same photo up on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – be selective and only post the cream of the crop.

Live Updates

Having a twitter wall, InstaPrinta gallery or slideshow hooked up to our photo booth at your event can be a massive boost for engagement and interaction. Depending on the nature of your event, livestreaming could also increase your audience substantially.

Back for More

Online photo booth gallery

Stay in touch with guests after the event, inviting feedback and comments and giving guests cool photos or material they can share after the event. For example, we provide an online photo gallery after your event that helps bring your guests back in touch with you!
