15th April 2016

We joined Enero again a few months back for their annual Christmas party at Royal Oak Hotel in Sydney.

Austin

Last year’s Rockabilly Riot party was a blast, and we were not disappointed by the standard of costumes seen at this year’s Throwback Thursday-themed soiree. These guys sure know how to party… let’s take a look at this top ten of dress-up successes for this awesome fancy dress theme, counting down from ten.

10. Material Girls

80s

These 80s new-romantic damsels take us right back to the time when Madonna really was queen of pop. Hair scrunchies, sleeveless denims and lace gloves complement the accurate hair and make up for our number ten.

9. Totally Rad

Combo

Pikachu, Mario and some generally bodacious dudes make this little group quite a combo. Hats off to you all.

8. Through the Decades

Crew

60s hippy, 70s bowie, 90s heroine and Warheads girl. Fabulously varied levels of throwback achieved here.

7. Bugsy

10s

An even further throwback right here, all the way back to the 1920s. Our retro phone prop is a touch too modern in this context, but we’ll give them the seventh spot for style.

6. Indie Karatebusters

KarateKid

What a gloriously nostalgic bunch we have here. 80s movie magic with a Ghostbuster and the Karate Kid, plus a bucket-hatted 90s indiekid for good measure. Magical.

5. Mario Bro

Mario

Mario is without his green brother here, but has found another kind of bodacious bro instead. This trucker-hatted dude looks suspiciously at home in his throwback getup… there’s always one hipster at parties like this who get away with wearing their normal clothes. Still great.

4. Perm Culture

Perms

These permed, tracksuited heroes look just the part. Just a glimpse of such resplendent nylon suits makes us yearn for 1992, when this ridiculous amount colour was entirely acceptable in one outfit.

3. Darth Varnish

StarwWars

Darth and this Imperial pilot actually look great with long locks and lovely nails. Top marks, and bonus points for a welcome reminder about Episode VII… E X C I T E D.

2. Ziggy

Ziggy

We caught a glimpse of Ziggy earlier on, but this costume deserves a high ranking on its own. Some people just seem to completely own their getup, and this here is a case in point.

1. Ballers

Backstreet

There was a time when nothing was cooler than the Chicago Bulls. This bunch, complete with a nod to Rodman’s classic green hair, capture those marvellous days brilliantly. Slam dunk top spot for you lads.
